Client: Higgins Construction
Project Value: £8 million
Project Type: 53 new build apartments over three blocks
Branch Place
Branch Place is a development of 52 new build apartments spread over three blocks, with 10 B1 commercial units at ground floor. The scheme’s planning conditions required 13.1% of the energy for the site to be derived from renewable energy sources.
PinnacleESP was commissioned to deliver this project requirement. We considered a variety of renewable and traditional primary energy sources for the site - Wind Turbines, Photovoltaics, Air Source Heat Pumps, Water Source Heat Pumps, Ground Source Heat, and Biomass Boilers.
The system that was the most appropriate and provided the most cost effective and energy efficient proposal was the Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) system. This allowed the project to attain Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH) Level 4 under ENE 1. The Daikin Altherma system selected was the client's preferred option. Roof mounted condensers linked to individual heat interface units in each dwelling using refrigerant pipe work were installed. This system provides under floor heating and hot water in each flat and allows for individual metering of the dwellings.
