Client: London Borough of Hackney

Project Value: £80,000

Project Type: Floodlighting of outdoor swimming centre for 2012 olympics

London Fields Lido

PinnacleESP was appointed to carry out a detailed feasibility report for a floodlighting system at the London Fields Lido Olympic sized heated swimming pool.  The aim of the project was to extend the pool’s use during the winter months, consequently allowing the facility to be considered as a training pool for the London Olympics.

PinnacleESP designed a lighting scheme which would provide Olympic standard illumination and to ensure the safety of swimmers using the facility at night.  The design ensured that the impact of light spill(vertical light trespass) on to the nearby residential areas was minimised. We worked towards standards which met CIBSE guidelines for a ‘Class II’ swimming facility.
