Client: French Institute
Project Value: £1 million
Project type: Refurbishment of existing library
French Childrens Library
The French Institute, located in south Kensington, London, is the focal point for the French Nationals living and working in the UK. There are numerous facilities for the school, including a children’s library. The existing Children’s Library was considered too small and did not meet the needs of the users. The library was shut over the summer holidays and refurbished into a modern facility providing all the facilities expected of a multi-functional, multi-media facility.
The basement of the building was a book storage room, but no longer in use so the children’s library was expanded to double the original size. A new platform lift and toilet facilities were added, as well as new air conditioning, lighting, small power and data. PinnacleESP worked closely with the main contractor and the architects to achieve the clients requirements within a tight programme and to the fixed budget.
