PinnacleESP have been appointed by Playle & Partners Project Management for Stage 0-3 MEP & Energy design consultancy services for the proposed new construction Royston First School.

 

Royston First School comprises of the proposal for a new build 2FE school in Hertfordshire. The proposed building is arranged in a U shape school block with a 2-storey teaching block within one return, a single storey teaching and administration areas within the middle and single storey hall, kitchen and plant space within the other return.

 

PinnacleESP carried out both the engineering and energy design for the proposed scheme.

 

The Client brief was to achieve a sustainable solution, making the most of passive measures where possible to improve the performance of the building.

 

This was achieved through detailed thermal dynamic analysis, incorporating a high-performance fabric, warm green roof design and strategic shadowing.

 

The MEP design utilised natural ventilation through a Monodraught system, low carbon ASHP design for the underfloor heating, full rooftop PV arrays and intuitive controls throughout.

 

The final design achieved an impressive final gross emission level of -2,500Kg/year, representing a total reduction in emission over the baseline model of 129.76%.
