Client: Carmel Building Services
Project Value: £20 Million
Southside Shopping Centre is part new build and part substantial refurbishment of an existing shopping centre including a flagship store for Debenhams, a gym and multiple small and medium retail units.
The project involved designing the packaged offsite CHP unit which is located on the main roof. The CHP unit provided all retail units with a base heating and hot water load via consumer interface. The service yards between the existing and new building have existing and new incoming services buried below ground - this required detailed coordination of the services and the phasing of the works. The design also included substantial external architectural lighting and retail storage, with particular attention applied to wire ways and re-lamping for architectural appearance but considering future maintenance requirements.
